This Jello playdough recipe is another great craft project you can do with your kids to make a toy you can produce time and time again.

Jello ads scent and color to your homemade playdough making it one of the most fun and interesting ways to make your own.

It is fairly complicated to make compared to some other playdough recipes and it is definitely not for kids to be doing on their own as their is come careful cooking involved.

Although this is not a recipe for kids to make you can quite easily make it with them as a craft or toy project.

It makes a pretty nice playdough if you can get the cooking just right, with a really nice texture and shape.

Ingredients for this Jello playdough recipe:

  • white flour – 1 cup
  • salt – 2 tbsp
  • cream of tartar – 2 tbsp
  • cooking oil – 2 tbsp
  • warm water – 1 cup
  • Jello – 1 3oz pack

Directions for this Jello playdough recipe:

  • Add all the ingredients together in a big mixing bowl
  • Mix all the ingredients together until consistent
  • Pour into a pan and stir continuously
  • Wait for it to thicken into a big ball and then place it on a piece of wax paper to cool
  • Kneed it for a few minutes once cooled with some flour
  • Add any food coloring or glitter to spice things up!
  • Start playing!

This is one of the most fun  you can make so make sure to give it a try once you’ve mastered some simpler recipes!

Be careful because Jello Playdough burns easily, so make sure you cook it on low heat and keep stirring.

If you store it in an air tight refrigerated container you can keep it for quite a few days.

That being said it is great project to do with your kids, especially if you combine it with the chocolate homemade playdough recipe and jello playdough recipe in order to make a set of scented playdoughs.

Make this around Christmas or Thanksgiving for a festive craft with your kids!

Ingredients for this gingerbread playdough recipe:

  • flour – 1.25 cups
  • all spice – 0.5 tsp
  • nutmeg – 0.5 tsp
  • ginger – 1 tsp
  • salt – 0.5 cups
  • cream of tartar – 0.5 tbsp
  • cooking oil – 1.5 tbsp
  • water – 1 cup

Directions for this gingerbread playdough recipe:

  • Combine all dry ingredients in a medium sized pot
  • Mix dry ingredients until consistent
  • Add water, oil, and cream of tartar and stir over low heat
  • Continue stirring until mixtures takes on a dough like consistency
  • Remove and place on wax paper
  • Knead until dough is smooth and consistent

This recipe is a great festive playdough recipe and makes a great Christmas craft or even toy.

You could even make a gift out of it! Don’t forget this recipe for playdough is NOT to be eaten!

Like the chocolate playdough recipe this playdough will keep well as long as you keep it in a sealed container in the fridge.

A GREAT Rubbery Playdough Recipe!

Rubbery PlaydoughThis playdough recipe makes extra rubbery playdough that is stronger and a great playdough recipe for kids.

It is a very simple homemade playdough recipe and the ingredients are fairly easy to come across, though you need a significant amount of baking soda for this rubbery playdough recipe. But there’s no cream of tarter!

This kind of playdough is often used to help young kids improve their motor skills and griping strength.

Ingredients for this rubbery playdough recipe:

  • baking soda – 2 cups
  • water – 1.5 cups
  • cornstarch – 1 cup

Directions for this rubbery playdough recipe:

  • Mix all the ingredients together with a fork until the mixture is smooth and one solid color
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat until thick and smooth
  • Place the cooked mixture on waxed paper
  • Allow to cool and it’s ready to go

This is a great playdough recipe that is easy to make and great for kids, but keep in mind that it is not an edible playdough.

pumpkin pie playdoughPumpkin Pie Playdough makes a great twist on the original playdough recipe. It is a little bit more complicated to make, but it smells absolutely delicious and it is a great way to take your homemade playdough making project with your kids to the next level.

This playdough recipe is not an edible playdough so make sure that even though it smells fantastic no one eats it!

It makes a great combination with gingerbread playdough and chocolate playdough as a set of scented playdoughs, very festive!

Ingredients for this pumpkin pie playdough recipe:

  • flour – 5.5 cups
  • salt – 2 cups
  • cream of tartar – 8 tsp
  • cooking oil – 0.75 cups
  • pumpkin pie spices – 1 ounce
  • orange food coloring – 2 drops yellow and 1 drop red
  • water – 4 cups

Directions for this pumpkin pie playdough recipe:

  • Mix all the ingredients together with a wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and one solid color
  • Cook while stirring with a wooden spoon over medium heat
  • Once all lumps are gone place on floured wax paper
  • Let cool and store in a sealed container

This pumpkin recipe for playdough makes for a much better smelling playdough though it is considerably more work than the traditional playdough recipe and needs quite a few more ingredients.

It is worth the effort though and your kids will love it. In particular it makes a great recipe for kids who are a bit older and looking for a more advanced craft project rather than a simple toy.
